Talking to the Dead:

Can They Hear Us?

Ecclesiastes 9: 5- 6 "For the living know that they shall die, but the dead know not anything...Also their love and their hatred, and their envy is now perished; neither have they anymore a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun."  I believe the key words here are "under the sun," which I interpret to mean here on earth.  The apostle Paul said in 2nd Corinthians 5:8 "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

Talking to the dead, even at graveside, is known as Necromancy, and is forbidden in the Bible.

When I had my "ministry" working with demonic harassment victims to help them break free, a large percentage of the people I worked with had talked to the dead at one time or another.  Some had simply stood at their parent's grave and said "Gee, Mom, I miss you," or "Gee, Dad, I wish you had lived long enough to see your grandkids."

Others keep their departed loved one's ashes in an urn on the mantle or dining room hutch.  As they walk past the urn, they say "Goodnight, Grandma," or "Bye, Mom. I'm going to work now."

One woman I encountered would take her mother's urn on bicycle rides in the basket of her bike.  She did this because her mom had loved riding bikes when she was alive.  Another had taken her mother's ashes to Las Vegas on the way to spreading them in the mountains, because her mom had loved playing the slots when she was alive.  She set the urn beside a slot machine and said "This one's for you, Mom," then she pulled the handle.

In each of the cases I've mentioned, the people had demonic spirits in their lives as a result of these seemingly innocent actions.

One family I worked with, who lived in a haunted house, called in a priest to clear it.  The priest went through each of the downstairs rooms saying prayers and sprinkling Holy Water.  When he and the couple went upstairs, he opened their bedroom door and the blood drained from his face.  Tom told me he had feared the padre was going to pass out.

The frightened priest flung some drops of Holy Water into the room then hurriedly handed the container to Tom.  "Here," he said.  "Take this Holy Water and this box of salt. Sprinkle the Holy Water in the rest of the rooms, then  sprinkle salt on all the window sills, and pour a trail of salt around the perimeter of the house."  With that, the priest was gone.

Tom sprinkled the remaining upstairs rooms while Maria sprinkled the salt on the windowsills, then together they poured a trail of salt around the outside of the house.  But doing these things only made matters worse.

Now the spirit haunting their house started showing itself as the dead grandpa they'd been talking to every week at graveside. In the evenings, this spirit would sit on the sofa between Maria and Tom as they watched T.V.  At night it would go to their young daughter's room and ask for a glass of buttermilk or try to talk her into going with it to the basement. One night it crawled into bed with Maria and whispered "sweet nothings" into her ear.

By the time Maria and Tom contacted me, they were desperate.  After taking them through my list of things that invite demonic harassment, I put on the armor of God and addressed any spirits that had come into their dining room as a result of the priest's sprinkling it with Holy Water.  Nine spirits showed themselves to Maria and her daughter.  They all looked exactly like the dead grandpa.  When we went to the laundry room, connected by phone, I addressed any spirits who had come into it as a result of the Holy Water.  Six more "dead grandpas" appeared.  The same was true of each of the other rooms. The basement was wall to wall grandpas!  As I've told every harassment victim I've worked with, spirits do not work alone. They work in groups as in the case of the grandpas.

Together, through God in Jesus' name, we cast the demonic spirits posing as the grandpa out of their home.  No salt or Holy Water was employed. The spirits left by the authority of  God in Jesus' name.

All of these spirits had come into Tom and Maria's home as a result of talking to the dead at graveside and or sprinkling holy water and blessed salt.  (If they'd called in a Voodoo practitioner, it would have been brick dust.)

I don't recommend that you try casting spirits away if you have any links to any aspect of the occult, or any open windows to the spirit realm that need to be closed. To do so could prove to be dangerous.

Note:  Holy Water and salt for protection are not Biblical.  Given the fact that they've  had a power of protection assigned, they are of the occult.  One cannot use the occult to fight the occult.  Luke 11:17-18 NIV "Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.  If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand?"

Note: My husband and I brought spirits into our lives, simply by visiting cemeteries and taking pictures of the graves. We had done this purely for research, and for the purpose of educating potential harassment victims regarding the dangers of talking to the dead. But demonic spirits don't make allowance for things we do for the purpose of research.

The spirits who came to my husband and me, and to us as a couple have been cast away in Jesus' name.
